James Ng
is the sole Principal of JN Legal Consulting. After obtaining his law degree from University College London, James practised as an Advocate & Solicitor in the corporate and commercial litigation department at Shearn Delamore & Co, a premier law firm in Malaysia. In 1998, James joined Wragge & Co LLP, a major UK law firm based in Birmingham and London. From 2007 to 2009, James headed up Wragge & Co’s offices in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China. He returned to the United Kingdom in January 2009. On 8th August 2009, James founded JN Legal Consulting. For more than a decade James has handled numerous complex, high-value cases, both in court and in arbitration and many of which often involved mediation. James is a CEDR Accredited Mediator and a Panel Commercial Mediator of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Council of International Commerce (CCOIC), Beijing. He speaks English, Putong-Hwa (and two other Chinese dialects, Cantonese and Hokkien) and Malay. James's experience includes: - The successful defence and counterclaim in a High Court trial on behalf of a property development company which involved diversion of contracts and the breach of an agent’s fiduciary duty to the company. - Acting in a complex multi-million pound dispute between major shareholders of a brewery involving a petition made under what was the equivalent of Section 994, Companies Act 2006. - Successfully obtaining injunctive relief on behalf of a well-known franchise client against not only the party in breach but a third party who induced the breach of the contract. - Advising on dispute resolution issues relating to complicated energy supply contracts. - Acting for a major automotive supplier in a multi-million pound dispute with its sub-supplier. - Acting in a £45million ICC arbitration involving the construction of a hotel in the Middle East. - Advising a major construction company on a multi-million dollar dispute with a State-owned enterprise in Shanghai, China involving CIETAC Arbitration. - Acting for a large Japanese corporation in a complex multi-million dollar and multi-jurisdictional dispute
Alison Simpson

Entered profession in 1989 Alison joined UDL in 1989 and qualified as both a patent attorney and a trade mark attorney. She became a Board Member in 1999. On the trade marks side, Alison advises clients on all aspects of acquisition, management and exploitation of trade marks. She has particular experience in trade mark availability searching and freedom to use advice and also in oppositions at both the British Registry and OHIM. She is the contributor to the United Kingdom law section of the INTA World Trademark Yearbook. Alison also works in the patent area and advises clients in the life sciences field, particularly in relation to biochemical or biological subject matter. She has extensive expertise in foreign filing strategies and requirements.
