Anil Vaidya recently led a mission of British SMEs out to Japan to look at developments in the Japanese bio scene. Pete and Dianne will be talking of their experiences and impressions. As usual, we finish with a presentation from one of the Japanese pharma companies which is active in the UK.

Pete Jackson
is CEO of Manchester-based chemical catalyst company Reaxa, and co-founder/chairman of Liverpool's Redx Pharma, as well as holding directorships in other bio-pharma technology start-up ventures. He was previously Vice President of Avecia's Pharmaceutical Products business, including responsibility for Avecia's sales and marketing offices in Japan. Pete has been trading with Japan for 15 years in the biopharma field, including business relating to CRO, CMO and drug API sales, as well as in the partnering and licensing of new technologies. In the past decade, Pete has been mission leader for two CIA single company initiatives, and has participated in four other UKTI-sponsored bio-pharma events in Japan.

 Dianne Sharp
With over 20 years of experience in manufacturing and senior management positions, Dianne joined SCM Pharma in 2010 and currently heads up the business overseeing its 50+ team. Prior to this she was Managing Director at Bishop Auckland-based Mechetronics, the UK’s leading manufacturer of solenoids, successfully leading the business in establishing overseas facilities in India and China and the eventual sale of the business to a large US corporate. Prior to that Dianne was part of the team who grew and sold Bioprocessing Limited, a leading developer and manufacturer of chromatography media to Millipore Inc. 

In her current role, Dianne is responsible for delivering the company strategy and all day-to-day operations at SCM Pharma, including improving operational efficiency, driving business growth and identifying of new markets. A Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA), Dianne also has an MBA from Durham University and is a Non-Executive with Business & Enterprise North Eas
