Background
Over 29 March-3 April Mervyn Levin took part in a UK Trade and Investment Science and Technology Mission to Taipei for an ICT Workshop on Smart Grids and Green Communications. The Mission was co-hosted by the Communications Research Centre of National Taiwan University (NTU), the National Science Council (NSC), and the British Cultural and Trade Office (BCTO) in Taipei.

Mervyn Levin
Founding Director, Levering Ltd, a consultancy for the digital industries, will share his learnings on Taiwan’s ICT prowess. This follows a recent UK Government-sponsored Science and Technology Mission.  Mervyn spends most of his time across Asia and is a keen observer of the ICT and Creative Industries across the Region and Europe.  He works closely with Governments, Universities, Investors and Companies across Europe and Asia and is a member of several Boards.  His roles include facilitating partnerships and providing insight and advisory services.  He also presents and publishes frequently.  Mervyn was Head of Digital Content Policy at the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) from 2002-7 and prior to that, held senior roles for Reuters in six countries spanning 20 years.

Barry Jones
During his career, which includes working for TTPcom and Motorola Mobile Devices, Barry has built &operated multiple teams in Taiwan, established R&D centres, placed projects with Taiwanese ODMs or subcontracted with many of the companies Mervyn met with. [fuller cv to follow]
