This seminar follows one held in March on "Career Paths and Asia-Pacific Pharmaceuticals". The purpose of this seminar is to switch the focus to the employment practices of Asian companies in Europe - looking at some of their experiences in employing local, "western" work forces, but putting their experiences in the broader context of other technology-intensive companies who are investing in Europe. Nick Stephens will talk out of his experiences as an executive recruiter who has worked in both hemispheres. Cerys Williams will look at some of the employment-related legal issues businesses have when exanding in Europe.

Nick Stephens
Nick has been a Director of RSA since 1986 and joined the business full-time in 1995.  In 2000 he became Managing Director of RSA Consulting Ltd - the RSA "group" company. Following a major restructure in September 2005 Nick took up a new position as CEO.  In this role he has led the transformation of RSA into a truly global company launching new wholly-owned businesses in Singapore, London, New Jersey, France, Germany and Switzerland and a JV in China. Nick studied Law at the University of East Anglia and Business at Cranfield and has broad commercial experience gained through various roles in metals trading, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and the British National Health Service as well as from his time at RSA.

Cerys Williams
Cerys is a partner of Fasken Martineau LLP and leads the UK employment practice. She advises on all aspects of the employment relationship from boardroom disputes and high-value litigation, to day to day employment law counselling and support. Her practice has a strong international emphasis and she frequently advises on cross-border issues. Cerys has significant experience in the technology sector and supports businesses in this sector throughout their life cycle, from a founder with a good idea to IPO and beyond. She has frequently assisted these companies and others in securing their key business interests by drafting and enforcing confidential information and non-compete protections. Cerys also advises on data protection and privacy issues.
