The Two Ambassadors will talk about the work of their Embassies and current issues within the Korean Peninsula, as well as relations with the United Kingdom particularly in the light of the recent visit to the UK by the Workers' Party of Korea and the visit in April to the UK by President Lee Myung-bak.  There will be a stimulating discussion where you will have the opportunity to put your questions to the Ambassadors.

Martin Uden was appointed British Ambassador in Seoul during February 2008. He has served there twice before, as Second Secretary 1978 to 1981 and then as a Political Counsellor from 1994 to 1997.  Martin joined the FCO in 1977, and has served in Bonn, Ottawa and recently as the British Consul General in San Francisco.

Peter Hughes became the British Ambassador in Pyongyang in July 2008. Previously he served as First Secretary (Political/Military) in Kabul 2005-08.  He joined the FCO in 1976 and was Head of the Korea Section, Far East & Pacific Department from 1994 to 1998. Also served in Colombo, Sydney & Rome.
