In the 21st century information/communications environment where data are acquired, distributed and stored with amazing speed, in massive quantities crammed into nano-spaces, knowledge remains central to the success or failure of all social entities – business corporations, nation-states and international organisations.

To clarify the principles and analyse the specifics we have assembled experts from a variety of backgrounds who will examine the regulatory frameworks being implemented in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region as well as the implications of data privacy and protection for their cost of implementation, their influence on innovation and their impact on society. The experts will be divided into two Panels:
