Background
With a rapidly aging population, changes to lifetime employment practices, and continuing economic uncertainties, Japan needs to look to new sources of economic growth and a better use of productive resources. Does the answer lie in more entrepreneurial activity? Does the role of the young, or women, or those leaving the employment of large companies hold the key? This seminar looks at the current state of entrepreneurship in Japan, and taps the knowledge and expertise of experienced Japanese entrepreneurs who have ‘done it’. This is the first in a new series of APTN seminars focusing on entrepreneurship in Asia, and will be of great relevance to anyone involved in the business, policy making or financing of early stage businesses. This will also provide an opportunity to learn about JEEF (Japan Europe Entrepreneurs Forum), which is a net work of Japanese entrepreneurs working in the UK and in wider Europe.
